Dear Legacy Families,

Here we are beginning our fifth year and so much has happened during the years leading up to now. We started out in three church locations in Mesquite, Dallas and Richardson and now are in our own buildings in Mesquite and Plano. We opened Texas’ largest charter (at that time) with 800 scholars and we anticipate beginning this new school year with up to 1450 between all three locations!

Our instructional programs have gotten more sophisticated, as we continue our STEM and engineering projects starting in Kindergarten. We are adding Chinese to the K – 5 th as a third language, with an emphasis on helping scholars understand their place in our global society. We are expanding our guided reading program to include upper grades as needed and we ask that reading be a priority in your home as well.

Our dual credit has expanded due to the changes allowed from the last legislative session. We are giving 9 th graders the opportunity to take some college courses if they have shown they are up to doing so. Our new motto for our elementary scholars is, “We are preparing you for 9 th grade college!”. This is a very exciting time to be in a Texas public school setting. Imagine being able to get college credit for free in high school for any child who shows s/he is ready! Think of the long term savings for your family!

We have changed the campus leadership model so it will allow each director to have fewer grades to oversee. Our goal is to free the directors up enough to have them go into classrooms and facilitator planning sessions more frequently so their expertise can support the instructional growth of their staff. I have asked for them to have a weekly schedule to follow which we ask for parents to honor. They will not be available during certain times as they follow their schedule, but will also schedule parent contact time as needed.

We thank you for your continued support or we welcome you to our Legacy family if you are new to us. We all look forward to getting to know you all better as we meet at parent events/nights. Please contact the director who oversees your child’s grade level if you have questions:

Again, thank you for the trust you have shown by bringing your child to our schools. We look forward to helping them celebrate their instructional and social emotional successes this coming school year!

Warm Regards,

Dr. Rebecca Good,
