NCLB HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHER REPORTING
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires school districts to publish their No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified Teacher Reports in a public domain. To view Legacy Preparatory Charter Academy’s NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher Reports click here.
To be “highly qualified” under the NCLB Act, a teacher must have:
- At least a bachelor’s degree;
- Full state certification* (includes probationary certificates in some circumstances, and for charter school teachers, state certification requirements specific to charter schools);
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
The NCLB Highly Qualified requirements for teachers should not be confused with the state’s teacher certification requirements. There is no connection between the two. For example, a teacher could be certified but not highly qualified according to NCLB.
