Grading and Attendance
Virtual Learning attendance is based on daily engagement, not solely the completion of assignments. State law TEC §25.092 still requires students to attend at least 90% of their classes to receive credit and be promoted. Students are expected to interact with academic content for the amount of time that matches a regular school day. LPCA scholars receive an agenda in the Learning Management System (LMW) that outlines daily schedules, expected learning activities, and assignments for completion.
Scholar schedules and log-in times will vary; however, scholars will be required to log in at specific times during the regular school day hours. Scholars have until 11:59 pm each day to be counted present with completed daily engagement.
- Scholars who login to Echo/Google Classroom each day and engage in teacher-assigned learning apps are considered present.
- Scholars who have not logged in by 3:00 pm each school day are marked absent.
- An absence can be resolved if the scholar engages in daily learning assigned by their teachers by 11:59 p.m. that same day.
- Parents and scholars will receive absence notifications via the School Messaging system each day and will be reminded of the opportunity to resolve that day’s absence.
Virtual School coursework and grading are consistent with the guidelines and practices used in all face-to-face instruction for the State of Texas. LPCA follows the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) guidelines when developing our curriculum.
